Become a Virtual Assistant NOW! You can easily start your own successful Virtual Assistant business at home. by Amy Mathews
When I graduated from college I set off to make my way in Corporate America. Like many people, when I finished school I didn't know what I wanted to do. After a few jobs here and there I soon discovered my talents were in Human Resources and specifically in recruiting. It is in recruiting and human resources that I made my career and where I climbed the corporate ladder. I had been working for five years and was enjoying my success when my husband and I moved across the country to Boston, Massachusetts for his job. This was in late 2000 when the dot com bubble was bursting and I soon discovered that companies were not hiring recruiters, but laying off employees.
So, there I was in a new city without a job, family or friends. My husband and I had been thinking of starting a family and I had always known that when I did have children I would want to be at home with them, so we went ahead and had our first daughter. Two years later we moved to Colorado and had our second daughter - life was good. I had a wonderful husband and two beautiful girls. While I enjoyed being with my kids, I found myself missing "work" and so began the search for some kind of work I could do at home.
I have tried almost every kind of work at home idea out there. You name it....I've tried it. From selling Mary Kay, Creative Memories to typing dictation and doing in-bound call support - if it was legitimate I gave it a go! After being disappointed time and time again I finally decided to start my own company and be my own boss. I had spent so much time, energy and money in these other ventures that were not right for me, why not invest in something that I knew would be successful - me! While surfing the Internet I discovered a term called, "Virtual Assistant". Most people have not heard of Virtual Assistants, and I was one of them. I learned that a Virtual Assistant (VA) is an entrepreneur who works independently and remotely providing office support utilizing the latest technologies to busy entrepreneurs and business owners from all over the world. That did it for me. I decided that I would start my own company and become a Virtual Assistant.
Virtual Assistance is one of the fastest growing industries today. It is very possible to earn an income from home wearing your pajamas and bunny slippers. Believe me I know, because I do! But, just as there isn't a magic pill to make you thin, this isn't a quick fix. Being a successful VA requires investment, hard work and tenacity on your part. I wanted to make sure I did this correctly and had all my i's dotted and t's crossed. After much Internet research and leg work I got my business up and running. After a few successful years I found myself getting calls and e-mails from other aspiring virtual assistants who wanted to talk about the world of Virtual Assistance and any advice I had to offer. While I loved speaking to these wonderfully talented and strong women I found myself spending too much time on the phone, so I wrote down all I had learned in a book called "Become a Virtual Assistant NOW! You can easily start your own successful virtual assistant business at home."
The Virtual Assistant industry is growing rapidly and there is plenty of business out there to be had for anyone who wants to have his or her own successful career at home. If you are looking to start your own business at home Virtual Assistance may be your solution too!
